Shipping and Delivery Policy
Thank you for choosing CapeVista Optics. We partner with reliable South African courier services to ensure your custom eyewear reaches you safely and efficiently. This policy outlines our processing times, shipping methods, costs, and what you can expect from the moment you place your order to the moment it arrives at your door.
1. The Custom Manufacturing Process
Because prescription eyewear is tailored specifically to your eyes, your order does not ship immediately. Once your payment is confirmed and your prescription data passes our administrative review, your order enters the manufacturing phase at our optical laboratory.
This process involves cutting the lenses to fit your chosen frame perfectly, applying any requested coatings (like anti-reflective or scratch-resistant layers), and performing a rigorous quality assurance check using a lensmeter. This manufacturing process typically takes between 3 to 7 business days, depending on the complexity of your prescription and the specific lens index required.
2. Standard Shipping Within South Africa
Once manufacturing and quality control are complete, your glasses are handed over to our courier partners (e.g., Dawn Wing, The Courier Guy, or Fastway). We currently only offer shipping within the borders of the Republic of South Africa.
Standard door-to-door delivery usually takes an additional 2 to 4 business days. Therefore, the total time from placing your order to receiving your glasses is generally between 5 to 11 business days.
Shipping is a flat rate of R99.00 nationwide. However, we frequently offer free shipping promotions on orders over a certain value (e.g., over R1500.00). Please check the banner at the top of our homepage for current promotional offers.
3. Delivery to Outlying or Rural Areas
While our couriers cover the vast majority of South Africa, deliveries to outlying, regional, or rural areas (far from major city centers like Cape Town, Johannesburg, or Durban) may experience slight delays. Please allow an extra 2 to 3 business days for deliveries to these locations. The flat shipping rate remains the same regardless of your location within South Africa.
4. Order Tracking and Communication
We believe in keeping you informed every step of the way. You will receive email notifications at key stages of your order's journey:
- Order Confirmation: Sent immediately after you successfully complete checkout.
- In Lab: Sent when your prescription has been verified and lens manufacturing begins.
- Shipped: Sent the moment your package is handed over to the courier. This email will contain your unique waybill/tracking number and a link to the courier's website, allowing you to trace your package in real-time.
5. Receiving Your Package
Our couriers deliver during standard business hours (08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday). Please ensure you provide a delivery address where someone will be available to receive and sign for the package during these hours. If you are typically at work, we highly recommend providing your work address.
If the courier attempts delivery and no one is available, they will usually try again on the following business day. After a certain number of failed attempts, the package may be returned to us, which could incur additional shipping charges to send it out again.
6. Damaged or Lost Packages
Your glasses are packaged securely in a protective hard case and an outer shipping box to prevent damage during transit. However, accidents occasionally happen. If your package arrives visibly damaged, please take a photograph of the unopened box before inspecting the contents. If the glasses inside are damaged, contact our support team immediately at [email protected] so we can arrange a replacement.
If your tracking information shows "Delivered" but you have not received your package, please check with colleagues, receptionists, or family members first. If it is still missing, contact us within 48 hours so we can launch an investigation with the courier company.
7. International Shipping
At this time, CapeVista exclusively serves the South African market. We do not offer international shipping or accept orders for delivery outside of South Africa.
